HELPFUL TIPS

Book Cloth Cover Wraps

Book cloth is available in several grades and finishes, including coated and uncoated varieties. Foil stamping can be used to decorate covers with titles or logos.

Woven book cloth is one of the most versatile case-binding turned-edge wrap materials available. Its traditional and understated appearance can stand on its own, or it can be enhanced with foil stamping and debossing. Woven book cloths are available in a wide range of colors, finishes and densities to suit almost any application. Here are a few additional details on book cloth varieties to help you choose the best cloth for your particular case-bound book project:

Nice Threads
Book cloths are commonly made from cotton, rayon, or polyester fibers, depending on the manufacturer. They are commonly available in either coated or natural finishes. Coated book cloths are desirable for moisture and wear resistance (although natural, uncoated cloths still provide ample durability!).

Book cloths are available in several quality grades based on thread count. As with your bedsheets, a higher thread count equates to a stronger and denser cloth, as well as a slightly higher cost. Let Pease Bindery help you select the book cloth grade that best matches the needs of your project. The highest-grade book cloths may take up more of your budget, but they’re designed to withstand decades of use.

Decorate It
Foil stamping and debossing are two popular decorative choices for cloth-wrapped books. Using heat, pressure and adhesive, foil stamping can be applied to cloth covers as text or specialty images. Available in a rainbow of colors, foil stamping is a great way to add contrast to an otherwise subdued cover. If subdued is what you’re after, blind debossing can be performed in almost any pattern to match your designs.
